The Sixth Ohio Volunteer Cavalry is a Civil War reenacting unit based in eastern Ohio, with members from across the tri-state region and Ontario. We train and ride using 1860s’ style military techniques and equipment, both Federal and Confederate. We recreate the action of Civil War cavalry battles, at major reenactments and at local community and school functions. This year the Sixth Ohio will fight the Battle of Brandy Station on June 7-8 and the Battle of Gettysburg on July 4-6, along with a number of smaller battles and rides, both historical and fictitious. We even expect be deployed to Erie, PA on August 16-17, to defend the local citizens at the “Battle of Thunder Valley Stables”. FUND RAISER EVENTS: (in order received) SCAVENGER HUNT TRAIL RIDE benefiting the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY There will be a Scavenger Hunt Trail Ride for horseback riders benefiting the American Cancer Society at the Cumberland State Forest in Cumberland, Virginia on Saturday, September 27th. Come ride the trail anytime between 10am and 2pm, the trail is about 2 hours long. The winner will be determined at 4 pm. If you pre-register, the entry fee is $10, and $15 on the day of the event.
